Join us for an accessible introduction to graphics programming through an interactive workshop on fragment shaders, starting from the very basics of GLSL and working up to the foundational techniques you see in programming communities such as Shadertoy. Fragment shaders are an important cornerstone in low-level graphics programming and for implementing advanced realtime visual effects. The skills you learn in this workshop will prepare you for authoring effects and filters for tools including three.js, TouchDesigner, Godot and Unity that are not otherwise possible with regular programming techniques. We'll be working with GLSL, which is the language driving WebGL and tools built on top of it such as the livecoding tools Hydra and Veda All levels of experience are welcome. You will want to have a bit of a grasp on general programming fundamentals and syntax, but no experience with shaders or graphics programming is required! You will need a laptop, and a web browser. This workshop will be led by Hugh Kennedy, who is is a graphics programmer at Canva with a background in photography, creative tech and game design who has specialised in WebGL and high-performance frontend development since 2013. 🌸 About c3s Creative coding crafts space embodies the notion of making space - physical space, head space, collaboration space - where we can get together and craft coding projects, generative artwork, new or ‘traditional’ forms of creative coding projects: anything that is born out of the interactions and inspiration that ‘space’ allows for. 💖 Find out more about us on 🌐 our website or Instagram 📍About the venue & house keeping We'll be using Canva’s beautiful event space, the Bersey off Hoxton Square. There will be some soft drinks, but there’s no food on site, so try to grab a bite beforehand if you can. 📍Address: The Bersey Warehouse, 293 Old St, London EC1V 9LA The entrance is on the side - Coronet Street. You can’t miss it; there are signs saying Canva all over the windows. 🗺️ Google maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/cMZqf6AeH9wKfB3X8 You can email ✉️ cccrafts.space@gmail.com if you need to get in touch.
