Join Social Impact SF for an interactive walking tour through the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood as we visit psychedelic art galleries, the Counterculture Museum, legendary music landmarks, and Hippie Hill while discussing what today's changemakers can learn from one of history's most influential social movements. This isn't just a history tourโit's a chance to meet thoughtful people, have meaningful conversations, and experience the neighborhood together. ๐ Schedule 10:30โ10:55 a.m. โ Meet at Coffee to the People for coffee, introductions, and check-in. 11:00โ11:55 a.m. ๐ Explore the Counterculture Museum together and learn the history and major movements that defined counterculture. 12:00โ12:20 p.m. ๐ Browse Love on Haight, featuring psychedelic art, books, gifts, and classic Haight-Ashbury culture. 12:25โ12:50 p.m. ๐จ Visit The Psychedelic Gallery and explore the visual art that helped define 1960's and 1970's counterculture. (Running late? Feel free to meet the group here around 12:30 p.m.) 12:50โ2:00 p.m. ๐ถ Continue our walking tour through Haight-Ashbury, stopping at landmarks including the famous Haight & Ashbury intersection, the former homes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and the Grateful Dead, several vintage stores, Higher Consciousness, Amoeba Music, and other neighborhood highlights. We'll keep this portion flexible and will make a few spontaneous stops based on the group's interests. 2:00โ2:20 p.m. ๐ฅช Stop by Whole Foods to pick up lunch before heading into Golden Gate Park. 2:30โ4:30 p.m. ๐ณ Relax with a picnic on historic Hippie Hill, where we'll continue the conversation, enjoy our free lunch, and connect with fellow attendees. ๐ฌ Interactive Discussion As we move between landmarks, attendees will pair up for discussions inspired by the places we're visiting. Along the way we'll explore questions like: What makes a social movement successful? What can today's founders, organizers, and changemakers learn from the counterculture? How do art and music influence social change? Which movements today will historians still be talking about 50 years from now? If a new movement started in San Francisco today, what issue would unite people? By the end of the tour, you'll not only have explored one of San Francisco's most legendary neighborhoodsโyou'll have met new people, exchanged ideas, and shared lunch in Golden Gate Park. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring a water bottle, and come ready for an afternoon of history, conversation, and community. ๐ฅช $25 ticket includes lunch and tickets to the Counterculture Museum. You can also sign up for free and pay at the door and buy/bring your own lunch. 100% Free lunch and Counterculture Museum tickets are included for volunteers while supplies last.
