LET THE GAMES BEGIN At this event we will sit in a circle of tables and work on beats in a dimly lit basement while sipping La Croix and giggling at funny samples. No experience required and teaming up with others is fine. HOW IT WORKS 1. Come at 7PM sharp 2. We’ll pass around a flash drive for each person to drop a sound in 3. We’ll pass around the flash drive again to grab all the sounds 4. We'll each create a beat using only the samples provided (I encourage you not to use any other sounds or synthesis) 5. At the end we will listen to the beats on the sounds system WE ALL WIN!!!!! Compilation At the end of the summer we'll each contribute a song to a compilation and release it on bandcamp. Donations Donations are completely optional and help cover the cost of drinks since there are no working drinking fountains at TIAT. I'll pick up some La Croix and maybe coconut water. Donations also help me recoup the cost of the sound system and lights. <3 Hang out after If there is energy after maybe we'll grab Thai food or similar nearby and hang out till midnight ish. About the Host Nes Croft is a musician, artist, and computer engineer from Montana who has written and recorded thousands of songs since a young age starting with folk/rock as a teenager and expanding into experimental pop, IDM, techno, and trance. Nes gained an interest in electronics at age 19 after working at the DIY synth company Synthrotek in Portland, OR. Going on to earn a bachelor's degree in computer engineering at Montana State University. While in college Nes co-founded and developed Vaytricks Beat Machine, a mobile drum machine app that received over 100,000 downloads. 5 years later Nes left Vaytricks to pursue a live performance focused approach to music production and Auwen was born. Auwen is a digital audio workstation featuring a hybrid producer/DJ workflow that allows musicians to perform dance music live using a command line interface. Given the nature of the software, Nes naturally gravitated toward live music events testing Auwen at various electronic music festivals in Montana. Later, Nes joined the livecoding scene in San Francisco and started hosting workshops & live music events at TIAT art gallery and Gray Area in San Francisco in 2025-2026.
